Biography

Baku is the leader of the Tantalus Theatre Troupe of Lindblum and is one of the main NPCs in Final Fantasy IX. He is the boss of his group and he doesn't take any lip from any of them - he is loyal to those who are loyal to him, even when they try to leave. Following the events to start the game in Alexandria, Zidane asks to leave Tantalus in order to rescue Garnet, and Baku forces him into a fight to justify his departure. Zidane wins, and Baku reluctantly accepts his departure, but acts as support to he and the group for the remainder of the game.

The father-son feeling of the relationship between Baku and Zidane is not an accident, as Zidane was abandoned in Gaia at a young age and was found by Baku, who raised him in Tantalus. As a teenager, Zidane attempted to find his homeland from a vague memory, and when he wasn't successful, Baku still allowed his surrogate son to return.
