Biography

Robo is a robot from the year 2300 A.D., part of a security detail for a factory. Prior to being dubbed Robo by his new allies, his designation was R66-Y (or R-66Y). As a thank-you to Lucca for repairing him, Robo offers to guide them through the factory in order to restore the power of the Proto Dome, which contains the means for the group to leave the post-apocalyptic world.

In battle, Robo is a physical powerhouse with a diverse array of Techs. He has the highest or near-highest Power, HP, and Stamina in the game (along with Ayla), but is crippled by average Magic and awful Speed and Magic Defense (his Magic Defense is the lowest in the game). Robo learns physical, Shadow, Fire, Lightning, AND healing single Techs, which vary in usefulness but may fill several niches in a team. Robo also takes part in a wide variety of Dual Techs and Triple Techs, again capable of playing multiple gameplay roles depending on his party setup. By the end of the game, Robo excels as a physical powerhouse, but is also capable of contributing as a healer or as a supplemental magic user.

Additional Information

What little we know of Robo's past is explained during the Mother Brain sidequest. The party discovers, during their exploration of the Geno Dome, a pink robot very similar in appearance to Robo. This robot, Atropos XR, is revealed to be Robo's girlfriend, assuming they have applicable genders. However, the two are forced to fight by the evil Mother Brain—an AI putting humans to death in the Dome. Atropos will also increase Robo's stats permanently before leaving, making it a worthwhile sidequest. The player and party also learns Robo's true name—“Prometheus”.

Beyond his past, Robo's future contains only uncertainty. As the only character originating from the future, actively defeating Lavos in any time period means that the timeline would change, and Robo may not exist at all. However, all is not lost. During various endings, you see the eventual fate of Robo, sitting peacefully with a robot that can be fairly presumed to be Atropos XR on top of the Denadoro Mountains.
