Holzoff is a tough old man who lives alone on the foot of Gaea's cliffs. Long ago, he attempted to climb the mountain with his friend, Yamski. Unfortunately, Yamski cut his own rope during the expedition, and died.

Additional Information

At one point, he saves your party from the bitter cold, and gives Cloud some sound advice on how to go about climbing the mountain. Also, if you listen carefully to his words, you discover that he knows a little of Jenova.
